Nils Loose completed the best master’s degree in computer science
Master’s thesis on exploring vulnerable paths using dynamic symbolic execution - prize money from Capgemini
Nils Loose graduated with the best Master’s degree in Computer Science last year. He received a special award for this on April 21 in front of students following the Algorithms and Data Structures lecture in lecture hall AM 1. The corresponding certificate was signed by the President of the University and the head of the degree program. Prize money of 1,000 euros was donated by Capgemini, one of the world’s leading providers of management and IT consulting, digital transformation and technology and engineering services, based in Lübeck.
The topic of the Master’s thesis is “VULPEX: Exploring vulnerable paths using dynamic symbolic execution”. Prior to his Master’s degree, Nils Loose also completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Lübeck. Immediately after successfully completing his Master’s degree, he was recruited as a member of staff and doctoral student at the Institute for IT Security.
The prize money was presented by Anika Oellerich, representing Capgemini. Prof. Ralf Möller, head of the degree program, presented the certificate. While Anika Oellerich already has a lot of experience with award ceremonies for the best Master’s degree at the University of Lübeck, it was Prof. Möller’s first award ceremony in his role as head of degree program. His conclusion: “A successful event. Thanks to everyone who made it possible.”
As is usual in computer science in Lübeck, the best possible grade of 1.0 was required to receive the award in 2022. And a 1.0 has already been set as the top grade for this year. The only question is how many students will achieve it this time.
By the way: the long stick in the photo is neither used for jumping with a stick nor as a baton, but is a zero-emission pointer for the lecture.
